Ferrules
A metal socket ("female ferrule") and matching plug ("male ferrule"). If fishing, the ferrules allow for the assembly of the rod sections. Usually made of nickel or brass, the ferrule permits a long rod to be dismantled into short lengths for convenient storage and transportation.
